Christingle Service

Our Carols and Christingle service will be held on Christmas Eve; Tuesday 24th December at 5pm.
We look forward to joining with the village in this  joyful celebration that brings all ages together to share the light of Jesus and spread a message of hope. During the celebration everyone receives a Christingle which is made of an orange, a lighted candle, a red ribbon and sweets on cocktail sticks, each part acting as a symbol of the Christian faith.

Christingle was establish by the Moravian Church in 1747 as a symbol of Christ's light and love. The Children's Society introduced it to the Church of England in 1968 and it has increased in popularity with many other churches since.

Over 6,000 Christingle celebrations now take place each year raising in the region of £1.2 million pounds, making it The Children's Societys largest fundraising appeal. They rely on the valuable funds raised through Christingle celebrations to fund their work with society’s most disadvantaged children.
